The Role of the CMHP in Service Coordination (10 Contact Hours)

Overview
Curriculum

The Role of the CMHP in Service Coordination is a 10-hour continuing education course for Certified Mental Health Professionals (CMHPs) who help people connect with the services and supports they need for recovery. Many people living with mental health conditions depend on several systems at once: psychiatric care, primary health care, housing, income supports, food assistance, legal systems, schools, employers, and family. Service coordination is the work of helping these pieces fit together around the person's own goals. This course defines service coordination and its core functions, clarifies the boundaries between CMHP coordination and licensed clinical treatment, reviews major case management models and their evidence, and teaches practical skills for coordination-focused needs assessment, planning, linkage, monitoring, documentation, information sharing, Florida Medicaid targeted case management requirements, and coordination during transitions and crises.
