Cultural Humility and Social Justice is a 10-hour continuing education course that helps Certified Mental Health Professionals (CMHPs) provide respectful, equitable services to people of all backgrounds and address the social conditions that shape mental health. The course explains the shift from cultural competence to cultural humility, guides CMHPs through self-reflection on their own identities, power, and assumptions, and introduces intersectionality, bias and microaggressions, cultural missed opportunities, social determinants of health, language access, historical and collective trauma, culturally responsive case management, social justice advocacy, and organizational accountability. Throughout, the emphasis is on lifelong learning, partnership with the people served, and practical actions CMHPs can take within their role.
