I am Dr. Brian Paulson, a counselor educator and practitioner deeply dedicated to advancing the behavioral health workforce. I am the owner of Dr. Paulson Professional Counseling, LLC, where my private practice is devoted to providing teletherapy, clinical supervision, training, and consulting.
I hold a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of South Florida. To support a wide range of clients and professionals, I am a dually Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in both Florida and Georgia, and I serve as a Qualified Supervisor (LMHC-QS, LMFT-QS) in Florida. Furthermore, I am a Master’s Level Certified Addictions Professional (MCAP), a Certified Gambling Addictions Counselor (CGAC), and an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS).
Throughout my career, I have built over ten years of clinical experience working in diverse and challenging settings, including community mental health, child welfare, juvenile justice, and addiction counseling. As a qualified supervisor and counselor educator I often focus on ways to improve the profession while also finding ways to better support counselors in training and equip them for the field. My research reflects this passion, focusing heavily on building counselor resilience to mitigate burnout and compassion fatigue.
On a personal note, I am a Florida native who absolutely loves the year-round sunny climate of the Tampa Bay Area. When I have free time, you can find me running, spending time with my family, walking my two dogs, or playing board games. I also strongly believe in advocating for the disenfranchised, which often leads me to participate in 5K community walks and fundraisers for mental health awareness.
My Mission and Vision for Continuing Education
Having worked as a counselor myself for over ten years, I don’t see why CEUs need to be so expensive. My goal is to grow the profession to better help us be able to serve and help more people for a trickle-down effect. I did some research and the lowest price per CEU hour I could find was $3. I price my courses at $2.50 largely only for administrative costs, but my mission is to provide affordable and competent training for individuals who either wish to be counselors or are counselors completing required training and wish to either enhance their skills or just learn something new. I want to ensure that you can serve your clients effectively without worrying about high costs or time-consuming training hurdles.
I understand that your licensure is your livelihood. I ensure my courses meet the highest standards of professional development by being a NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider, CCE Approved Clinical Supervisor as well as a NAADAC approved provider. I know how frustrating CE tracking can be. That is why I have automated the process. When you complete a course here, I handle the reporting to CE Broker for you, no extra steps, no manual uploads, just hassle-free credit.
