North Dakota State Board of Addiction Counseling Examiners

These courses are designed for North Dakota Licensed Addiction Counselors (LACs), Licensed Master Addiction Counselors (LMACs), and Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselors (LCACs) who must meet the standards of the North Dakota State Board of Addiction Counseling Examiners (NDBACE). Our trainings provide a deep dive into the state's adoption of the NAADAC Code of Ethics into binding administrative law (N.D. Admin. Code 4.5-02.1-05-01), alongside advanced compliance training in 42 CFR Part 2 vs. HIPAA, clinical supervision, case management, multidimensional screening and assessment, and documentation — all designed to support North Dakota's behavioral health workforce. Our seven courses meeting NDBACE requirements include: Ethical Practice in Addiction Counseling (6 hours), satisfying the mandatory ethics requirement for LMACs and LCACs; Clinical Supervision: Ethics and Techniques (3 hours), fulfilling the supervision CE requirement for Registered Clinical Supervisors (RCS); Healing through Family & Community (6 hours), covering culturally responsive recovery approaches including Indigenous populations; Helping through Case Management and Referrals (8 hours), addressing interdisciplinary care and 42 CFR Part 2 referral confidentiality; Safe and Practical Documentation (5 hours), aligning clinical records with ASAM criteria and North Dakota rules; Screening and Assessment for SUDs (4 hours), covering standardized tools and the SAMHSA TIP 42 framework for co-occurring disorders; and Mastering SBIRT and Motivational Interviewing (8 hours), integrating MI's four foundational processes into the SBIRT public health model.North Dakota licensees must complete 40 CE hours every two years, of which no more than 30 hours may be earned through asynchronous distance learning — the remaining 10 hours must be completed via live instruction such as in-person training or synchronous webinars. No single distance-learning course may exceed 25 hours. Of the 40 required hours, at least 6 must cover professional ethics, and RCS credential holders must ensure at least 3 hours address clinical supervision techniques. Please ensure you do not exceed your 30-hour distance-learning cap when purchasing online modules.
