Leadership for Child Welfare Supervisors (10 Contact Hours)

Overview
Curriculum

Child welfare supervisors lead teams through heavy caseloads, emotionally difficult cases, court deadlines, and sometimes dangerous situations. This 10-contact-hour course prepares Certified Child Welfare Supervisors and supervisory candidates to lead with purpose, fairness, and skill.

Participants learn to motivate staff using motivational interviewing strategies and strengths-based supervision, maintain professional boundaries, use emotional intelligence, lead ethically within laws and policies, build a shared vision across a diverse workforce, strengthen teams and resolve conflict, and plan for crises that affect worker safety. Each module includes a supervision case study with a practice question and a practical tool, such as the Staff Motivation Conversation Guide, the Ethical Decision-Making Worksheet, and the Team Crisis and Worker Safety Plan.
