Foundations of Co-Occurring Disorders for Direct Care Staff (5 CE Hours)

Overview
Curriculum

This comprehensive 5-hour training provides Certified Behavioral Health Technicians (CBHTs) with a robust framework for working with individuals experiencing Co-Occurring Disorders (CODs). Moving beyond basic support, this course operationalizes the "No Wrong Door" policy, equipping direct care staff with the skills to recognize the interplay between substance use and mental disorders. Participants will explore evidence-based strategies for screening, trauma-informed safety planning, and cultural responsiveness. Crucially, the curriculum addresses professional ethics, boundary maintenance, and the imperative of self-care to prevent compassion fatigue, ensuring safe practice for both the client and the provider. This course counts towards the 10 hours Elective requirement for BHTs.
