Holistic Support and Non-Psychiatric Medications
Delivering education on the intersection of physical health care and counseling, this four-contact-hour course explores how non-psychiatric medications and medical conditions can affect mood, anxiety, sleep, cognition, and behavior. Participants review documented examples, including corticosteroids, montelukast, fluoroquinolone antibiotics, isotretinoin, finasteride, and the erectile dysfunction medicine tadalafil (Cialis), and learn how the DSM-5-TR (American Psychiatric Association, 2022) classifies medication-induced and medically caused symptoms. The course emphasizes the counselor's role in observing, screening, documenting, coordinating with prescribers, and referring, without advising clients to start, stop, or change medications, and it addresses consent, privacy, and safety under federal law and West Virginia law. Upon successful completion of the post-test, hours are reported directly to CE Broker.
CE Broker reporting covers the 16 boards in 10 states where I'm a registered provider. Everyone gets a certificate to download right away.
