Technology in Addiction Practice (3 CE Hours)

This three-hour cross-disciplinary course explores the intersection of addiction counseling, technology, and ethics. As the landscape of substance use disorder (SUD) treatment shifts toward digital delivery, Kansas counselors must master the competencies required for safe, effective telehealth practice. This course provides a comprehensive review of the ethical mandates regarding electronic service delivery, including informed consent, confidentiality, and boundary management in a digital age. Participants will examine evidence-based strategies for building therapeutic alliance via video, utilizing mobile health (mHealth) applications, and navigating the digital divide with cultural humility. Grounded in current research and regulatory standards, this training equips clinicians to integrate technology into practice while strictly adhering to 42 CFR Part 2 and HIPAA regulations. Upon successful completion of the post-test, hours are reported directly to CE Broker.
