Trauma-Informed Care for the Behavioral Health Technician (5 CE Hours)

Overview
Curriculum

This comprehensive 5-hour training equips Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) with the essential knowledge and skills to implement Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) within behavioral health settings. Participants will explore the prevalence and impact of trauma, the six key principles of the TIC approach, and strategies to prevent retraumatization. The course emphasizes cultural humility, crisis intervention, and the ethical imperative of provider self-care to mitigate compassion fatigue. Designed for the Florida Certification Board credentialing standards, this course transforms daily practice from a "what is wrong with you" mindset to a "what happened to you" perspective. This course counts towards the 10 hours Elective requirement for BHTs.
