California Law, Ethics, and Documentation in Clinical Supervision is a six-hour, text-based home study course for licensed marriage and family therapists, clinical social workers, and professional clinical counselors who supervise associates and trainees registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences. The course explains the supervision framework that took effect on January 1, 2022, including the Supervision Agreement, the supervisor self-assessment report, supervisor qualifications, weekly supervision requirements, and videoconference supervision. It also addresses supervisor liability, mandated reporting and the duty to protect in the supervisory context, goal setting and evaluation, gatekeeping and remediation, the supervisory relationship, contextual and cultural variables, and documentation and record keeping. Each module combines current California requirements with established supervision research and practical case illustrations.
