California Board of Behavioral Sciences

Our California courses are written for licensees and associates of the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS), including LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and associate MFTs, clinical social workers, and professional clinical counselors. Licensees complete 36 hours of continuing education every two years, including 6 hours of law and ethics each renewal, and every licensee completes a one-time 3-hour telehealth course that includes telehealth law and ethics. Associates complete 3 hours of California law and ethics during each registration renewal. Supervisors complete 15 hours of supervision training when they begin supervising and 6 hours each renewal after that. This category includes California Law and Ethics (6 hours), California Telehealth Law and Ethics (3 hours), California Law and Ethics for BBS Associates (3 hours), and California Law, Ethics, and Documentation in Clinical Supervision (6 hours), and the 15-Hour New Supervisor Package builds on the supervision course. The BBS accepts continuing education from providers approved by NBCC, and Dr. Paulson Professional Counseling LLC is an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP No. 7987). These courses are designed around BBS requirements but are not approved or endorsed by the BBS. California does not use CE Broker, so licensees keep their certificates in case of a BBS audit.
