California Law and Ethics for BBS Associates: AMFTs, ASWs, and APCCs (3 Hours)

Overview
Curriculum

California Law and Ethics for BBS Associates is a three-hour, text-based home study course designed for associate marriage and family therapists, associate clinical social workers, and associate professional clinical counselors who complete the Board of Behavioral Sciences requirement of three hours of California law and ethics during each registration renewal period. The course covers registration and renewal, scope of practice, disclosure of associate status, employment and fee rules, supervision units and logs, advertising, telehealth, and discipline. It then addresses confidentiality, privilege, and client records, followed by mandated reporting of child, elder, and dependent adult abuse, the duty to protect, firearms reporting, and suicide risk, all from the associate's perspective.

Will this count for my registration renewal? The Board of Behavioral Sciences accepts continuing education from providers approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), one of its board-recognized approval agencies (16 CCR 1887.4.1 and 1887.4.3). Dr. Paulson Professional Counseling LLC is an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7987. This course is designed around the BBS 3-hour law and ethics requirement for associates and is not approved or endorsed by the BBS.

Already licensed (LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC)? Take the 6-hour licensee version for $30.

Dr. Paulson Professional Counseling LLC has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7987. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Dr. Paulson Professional Counseling LLC is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
