Texas Social Work Jurisprudence Review (1 CE Hour)

Overview
Curriculum

This 1-hour course is a high-yield review of the laws and rules that govern social work practice in Texas, written for LBSWs, LMSWs, LCSWs, and applicants preparing for the social work jurisprudence examination. It covers the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council and the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners, the Social Work Practice Act, the 22 TAC Chapter 781 rules on license levels, supervision, technology, records, consent, advertising, and sexual misconduct, Health and Safety Code Chapter 611, mandatory reporting, the complaint process, and the status of the Social Work Licensure Compact. Social workers who pass the jurisprudence examination may claim 1 hour of ethics under 22 TAC §781.501, and this course also counts toward the 6 required ethics hours as education on state laws and rules relevant to social work practice.

This course is designed around the continuing education requirements of the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners but is not approved or endorsed by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners or the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council. It does not replace the Council's jurisprudence examination. Dr. Paulson Professional Counseling LLC is an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7987.

This course is also part of The Texas Social Work Complete 30-Hour Renewal Bundle, all 30 CE hours for $65. See the Texas CE requirements guide for the full renewal rules.
