Certified Child Advocate Managers stand at the center of best interest representation for children in Florida's dependency courts. This 10-contact-hour course addresses the Child Advocacy Management domain of the Florida Certification Board's CCAM credential and counts toward the 40-hour annual continuing education requirement.
Participants review the guardian ad litem's duties under section 39.822, Florida Statutes, the fiduciary best interest standard, and the duty to report children's preferences. They learn to match volunteers to new appointments, gather and verify information using guardian ad litem records access, conduct meaningful child visits and meet mandatory reporting duties, track cases against Chapter 39 timelines, advocate in multidisciplinary staffings, advocate for education, health, and normalcy, manage caseloads that include cases without volunteers, and collaborate with partners while maintaining independence. Each module includes a case study and a practical tool such as the Best Interest Recommendation Worksheet and the Permanency Timeline Tracker.
