Certified Child Advocate Managers achieve advocacy outcomes for Florida's dependent children through the volunteer advocates they recruit, coach, and support. This 10-contact-hour course addresses the Volunteer Coaching, Relationship Building, Management, and Support domain of the Florida Certification Board's CCAM credential and counts toward the 40-hour annual continuing education requirement.
Participants apply research on volunteer management practices and retention to every stage of the volunteer cycle: targeted and ethical recruitment, screening under section 39.821, Florida Statutes, onboarding, ongoing training, relationship building, coaching with motivational interviewing skills, building confidence and independence, monitoring performance with supportive accountability, recognition, and preventing burnout and secondary traumatic stress. The final module addresses managing a volunteer workforce with varied experience and backgrounds. Each module includes a case study and a practical tool such as the Volunteer Coaching Conversation Planner and the Volunteer Retention and Well-Being Plan.
