Crisis Planning and Wellness Recovery (10 Contact Hours)

Overview
Curriculum

Crisis Planning and Wellness Recovery is a 10-hour continuing education course for Certified Mental Health Professionals (CMHPs) who help people prepare for, move through, and recover from mental health and substance use crises. Crises are common in recovery, but they are not random. Most have warning signs, and many can be softened or prevented when people have a plan they helped write. This course teaches the nature of crisis, the crisis services continuum including 988, the tasks of crisis intervention, the Safety Planning Intervention, Wellness Recovery Action Planning, early warning sign monitoring, crisis preference documents and psychiatric advance directives, substance-related crisis planning, post-crisis follow-up, and trauma-informed crisis practice. Throughout, the course clarifies what CMHPs do and what belongs to licensed clinicians and emergency services.
