The Philosophy of Person-Centered Care is a 10-hour continuing education course for Certified Mental Health Professionals (CMHPs) who want to understand why person-centered care has become the expected standard across mental health and co-occurring services, and how that philosophy shows up in the ordinary work of a CMHP. The course traces the idea from Carl Rogers's client-centered therapy through the consumer and recovery movements to present-day person-centered planning, shared decision-making, trauma-informed care, and peer support. Each module pairs the philosophy with a named, practical tool, a realistic case study, and clear guidance on the CMHP scope of practice, so learners finish the course able to put person-centered values into their conversations, documentation, and team communication.
