Suicide Risk Assessment, Treatment, and Management for Pennsylvania Clinicians is a one-hour, text-based home study course designed around Act 74 of 2016, which requires licensees of the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors to complete 1 hour of continuing education in the assessment, treatment, and management of suicide risk at each biennial renewal. The course covers risk factors, warning signs, and theories of suicide, validated screening and assessment, risk formulation, evidence-based treatments including safety planning, lethal means counseling, cognitive therapy for suicide prevention, DBT, and CAMS, and management under Pennsylvania's Mental Health Procedures Act, including crisis resources, confidentiality, documentation, minor consent, and care transitions. The word "suicide" appears in the course title, as the Board's guidance specifies.
