Renewal requirements
LPC and LPC/MHSP
- 20 clock hours every 2 calendar years, with no more than 10 from online or other multi-media courses.
- 3 hours of ethics and jurisprudence every 2 years.
- Suicide prevention training at least once every 4 years.
- Supervisors: 3 hours in supervision topics every 2 years.
LMFT and LCPT
- 10 clock hours every calendar year, with no more than 5 from online or other multi-media courses.
- 3 hours of ethics and jurisprudence every 2 years.
- Suicide prevention training at least once every 4 years.
These requirements come from Board Rules 0450-01-.12, 0450-02-.12, and 0450-03-.12 and from Tenn. Code Ann. § 63-1-125, which requires suicide prevention training at least once every 4 years. The Board’s rules still say every 5 years, but the statute controls. Our courses are online, so their hours count toward the multi-media limits.
