Identifying Victims of Human Trafficking in Health Care Settings: Michigan Required Training
Identifying Victims of Human Trafficking in Health Care Settings is a one-hour, text-based home study course designed around the human trafficking training standards that Michigan's behavioral health licensing boards adopted under MCL 333.16148. It covers all four required content areas: the types and venues of human trafficking in the United States, identifying victims of human trafficking in health care settings, the warning signs of human trafficking in health care settings for adults and minors, and resources for reporting suspected victims. The course applies this content to counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, and substance use treatment settings, and it explains Michigan's trafficking laws, the Child Protection Law's reporting duties, and confidentiality considerations. The course is self-paced, delivered as printed or electronic media, and completed by passing a post test.
