Our continuing education (CE) courses are designed for mental health professionals licensed under the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC), including Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs), Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs), and Social Workers (LBSW, LMSW, LCSW). LPCs must complete 24 CE hours every two years, while LMFTs and Social Workers each require 30 hours. Across all license types, renewal packages must include 6 hours of ethics (the Texas Jurisprudence Exam counts as 1 hour), 3 hours of cultural competency, and one HHSC-approved Human Trafficking Prevention training. LMFTs who provide remote therapy must also complete 2 hours in telehealth, and supervisors across all three license types (LPC-S, LMFT-S, and social work supervisors) must complete 6 hours of supervision-specific CE.All organized online video, audio, and digital media courses are fully accepted for distance learning with no hour cap for LMFTs and Social Workers; LPCs may use organized media freely, but true self-study (e.g., reading a book independently) is capped at 1 hour per renewal period. LPCs must also obtain at least 50% of their total CE hours (12 of 24) from specifically recognized providers such as state or national associations, government entities, or LPC-Ss. Importantly, the Texas BHEC does not pre-approve providers — it is each licensee's responsibility to ensure courses relate to their professional practice. Our course catalog currently does not include the HHSC Human Trafficking course. Beginning January 1, 2026, all BHEC licensees must use the CE Broker platform to track and report hours prior to renewal. Upon completion, we provide a certificate displaying your name, topic, date, and hours earned.
Addiction Counseling Competencies (TAP 21) (8 CE Hours)
Clinicians will analyze the eight practice dimensions of addiction counseling defined in TAP 21 to ensure alignment with national standards and Texas licensure requirements.

Clinical Supervision: Models, Methods, and Texas Rules (6 CE Hours)
Detailed analysis of 2024-2025 rule changes under BHEC, including the transition to CE Broker and the 60-month LPC Associate license limits.
Step-by-step guidance on designing remediation plans and executing due process when an Associate fails to meet competency standards.
Strategies to manage vicarious liability and strict liability within the supervisory dyad.
Texas Ethics: Compliance, Jurisprudence, and Avoiding Disciplinary Action (6 CE Hours)
Differentiate the enforcement powers of BHEC versus HHSC and how recent statutory consolidations affect LPC, LMFT, and LCDC licenses.
Navigate the implementation of the Counseling Compact (SB 498/HB 1537) and the new January 2026 mandatory CE reporting requirements.
Analyze specific statutes including Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 611 and Texas Administrative Code Chapters 681, 801, and 562.
Diagnosis and Treatment of Co-Occurring Disorders (6 CE Hours)
Clinicians will analyze the Quadrant Model of Care to determine appropriate placement and service intensity for clients with varying severities of COD.
The course provides advanced training on differential diagnosis, helping clinicians distinguish between substance-induced symptoms and independent psychiatric disorders.
Participants will review Texas-specific Scope of Practice rules (TAC Chapter 681), clarifying the distinct roles of LPCs, LMFTs, and LCDCs in treating dual diagnoses.
Telehealth in Texas: Legal and Ethical Standards (4 CE Hours)
Learners will evaluate the current status of the Counseling Compact in Texas (SB 498) and its implications for interstate practice and portability.
The course provides actionable frameworks for developing remote emergency management plans, including verifying client location and coordinating with local resources during crises.
Participants will master the implementation of HIPAA-compliant platforms, Business Associate Agreements (BAA), and digital security protocols required to protect client confidentiality.
Cultural Diversity and Competency in Texas Practice (3 CE Hours)
Detailed analysis of the new Texas rule (effective 2025/2026) requiring 3 hours of competency training for "distinct populations."
Application of the Multicultural and Social Justice Counseling Competencies to assess counselor self-awareness and client worldviews.
In-depth exploration of implicit bias, microaggressions, and the intersection of privileged and marginalized identities.
Gambling Addiction Treatment: A Brief Review (2 CE Hours)
Clinicians will analyze the shift from "Impulse Control Disorder" to "Addictive Disorder," examining the neurobiological similarities between gambling and substance use.
Participants will review the nine diagnostic criteria for Gambling Disorder, including the critical concepts of "chasing losses" and "bailouts."
The course provides training on specific assessment tools such as the South Oaks Gambling Screen (SOGS) and the National Opinion Research Center DSM Screen (NODS).
Texas Jurisprudence Exam Prep (1 CE hour)
Participants will analyze the governance structure of the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC) and distinguish between the roles of the Council and the individual licensure boards (TSBEPC and TSBEMFT).
The course provides a detailed review of Texas-specific mandates regarding confidentiality (Chapter 611), the release of records, and the permissive vs. mandatory duty to warn standards unique to Texas law.
Learners will review the most tested areas of the Texas Administrative Code, including the prohibitions on sexual misconduct, the specific timelines for record retention, and the distinction between "clinical" and "supportive" counseling.
